South Lakes Academy is an Independent Special School, Ofsted registered in 2019 with the Department for Education. We offer alternative educational provision for pupils aged 11-21 years with mild to moderate learning or emotional difficulties. Mostly, but not exclusively students will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The EHCP is used to create a unique educational programme to enable them to achieve their full potential in a friendly, supportive and stress-free environment. Typically, education will be delivered on a one-to-one or semi-private basis, however, small group sessions are also available.

The Individual Education Plan (IEP) is evaluated on a regular basis. A comprehensive review meeting involving a multidisciplinary team will take place at least once a year.

We work closely with parents and other agencies involved with our young people to ensure that we meet all individual needs.

Here at South Lakes Academy, we provide a safe, supportive learning environment with opportunities for each student to develop the skills and knowledge to enable them to become a responsible and successful citizen.”
